Chris Garfield is a 2004 graduate of Michigan State University College of Law, with a concentration in Health Law. While attending MSU Law, Mr. Garfield was a participant in the honorary Merit Scholars program, and served as an Associate Editor and Coordinating Editor of the Journal of Medicine and Law. In addition to his editorial duties, he performed extensive research on the topic of adolescent autonomy for health care decision making. Mr. Garfield authored an article on that topic for the Spring 2004 Issue of that publication, "Enabling Responsibility: Adolescent Autonomy and the Teen HIV Crisis in the United States."
Before joining the Brian Kaser PLC, Mr. Garfield was an associate at a workers compensation firm in Grand Rapids. He has also worked for several years as a law clerk in the Grand Rapids office of a major insurance company. He brings valuable experience in litigation and administrative law to the firm.
Mr. Garfield is a 1995 graduate of Grand Valley State University, where he majored in Social Science with a minor in Elementary Education. He also completed several additional courses in Political Science. He is a member of the Health Law sections of the State Bar of Michigan and the American Bar Association, the Michigan Home Health Association, and the American Health Lawyers Association sections on long term care and taxation.
